Amid Clouds and Bones is the kind of book you pick up when you're 100% here for the vibes — and it absolutely delivers. The atmosphere, the magic, the sweeping settings? If you’re craving a standalone romantasy without the emotional damage of getting stuck in an unfinished series (we’ve all been there), this one is a perfect pick.

That said, because it’s a standalone, it’s hard to expect mind-blowing world-building or super deep character arcs — and honestly, that’s okay. This is a book you read for the feeling it gives you, not for the flawless plot. I will say there were a few pretty wild jumps between paragraphs where I was seriously confused. (And not in a "did I miss something?" way — I actually went back to re-read and, nope, that's just how it moved.)

Even with the occasional whiplash, I still flew through it in just a few days. It was refreshing to be swept away in a fantasy world without the stress of waiting years for the next book. If you're looking for something atmospheric, a little chaotic, and full of magic and romance, Amid Clouds and Bones is definitely worth the read.
