Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider is hands down one of my favorite reads of the year. By the second chapter, I was hooked and thinking, "okayyy, we are intrigued." The world-building and magic system feel so fresh and different from a lot of fantasy books out there. Rachel’s writing is so descriptive and vivid that I could picture every scene perfectly—I felt like I was right there in the story, living it as one of the characters. And Acker? Um, yes please.
I’m not going to spoil anything because I went in with zero context, and it made the whole experience such a fun surprise. But heads up: there’s a HUGE cliffhanger, and the second book isn’t out yet... you’ve been warned!
After finishing, I actually messaged Rachel on Instagram to make sure another book was coming (something I’ve never done before). She was so sweet and confirmed that a sequel is in the works. Fingers crossed for 2025!
If you’re into unique fantasy with gorgeous writing and unforgettable characters, definitely check this one out. Plus, I am dying to talk to more people about this book, so please RUN to read this one.
